San Francisco

It might only be seven miles by seven miles square but San Francisco packs a lot into a small space. Besides being born here, I always wonder if my love of theme parks was furthered by the fact this city has an “Italian land”, “Gay land”, “Chinese Land”, “Japan Land”, etc. I’d say that over my lifetime, San Francisco has certainly lost most of its funkiness, but it still has its magic.

The Compton's Cafeteria riot in 1966 was one of the first LGBT-related riots in United States history, preceding the more famous 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City.

Burning Man originated here on June 22, 1986, when Larry Harvey burned a wooden man at Baker Beach.

Chinese food was introduced to America by San Francisco during the first wave of Chinese immigration in the 1850's due to the Gold Rush.
